SVBR-100 N-plant design to be ready by 2017
According to the IAEA data, some 500-1,000 small power reactors could be built by 2040 worldwide, said Anna Kudryavtseva, deputy director of innovation, science and technology policy department at Atomenergoprom. She was addressing the 2-nd international conference “Building NPPs” held in Moscow on November 26. In her paper on SVBR-100 reactor she noted the technology main advantages as protectiveness, passive safety system, easiness of transporting, “as well as versatility of the reactor as regards fuel”, since it could run also on MOX-fuel without consuming natural uranium. The SVBR “has good prospects” in terms of deployment, in particular on floating nuclear power plants and nuclear sites being decommissioned to replace retired reactors...
